What's up with Drake's bizarre Obama Instagram tribute?

Obama's farewell speech inspired quite the outpouring of sentiments, including Drake who paid respects via meme.

Outgoing President Barack Obama was arguably the first hip-hop president, and his farewell address hit home with a lot of rappers.

Drake's response? Odd.

Good ol' Drake can always be counted on for some internet fun! The "Hotline Bling"-dancing, restaurant booth-sitting former "Wheelchair Jimmy" knows how to get computers 'putin, and did not disappoint with a post reading "As a Canadian that calls America home for part of the year I will always carry your words and the memory of your time in office with me as inspiration. Big up yaself O."

This wouldn't be that odd except it was accompanied by a photo of Obama with Drake's signature beard photoshopped on him.

Understandably, the world wide web is running wild with it. Why would Drake do this? Drake at one time boasted on "Summer Sixteen" that "Tell Obama that my verses are just like the whips that he in: They bulletproof." Obama even had his track "Off That" with Jay-Z on his workout playlist! So, why the beard?

Turns out, it's probably a call back to Drake's recent Saturday Night Live monologue where be performed "More Than a Meme," which contained the line "How can I explain to my momma / When you got my beard on Obama?"

So, there you have it. Drake referencing Drake referencing Drake. Thanks, Obama!
