Wilson will get a (free) red carpet showing in Minnesota

The premiere is complimentary – but you'll have to wait in a rush line.

Wilson filmed in Minnesota a couple years ago, and this March it'll return to the state for its regional premiere.

The Twin Cities Film Fest said Friday the Woody Harrelson-starring film will get a red carpet showing March 22, at ICON Showplace Theater in St. Louis Park at 7 p.m.

Wilsonshot in and around St. Paul over the summer of 2015, including at a farmers market, Lake Minnetonka, Como Zoo, Mall of America, and Lake Street in Minneapolis. Harrelson stars as a “lonely, neurotic and hilariously honest middle-aged misanthrope” who finds out his ex-wife (played by Laura Dern) had his child – about whom he never knew.

Judy Greer, Cheryl Hines and Isabella Amara are also in the film.

You can get a taste of what to expect in this red band trailer.

Wilson premiered at Sundance Film Festival last month, and was apparently a festival hit. It's based on a graphic novel by Daniel Clowes, and was directed by Craig Johnson (who did The Skeleton Twins).

The March 22 premiere will include a red carpet celebration with interviews, a pre-show mixer, and a Q&A afterward with people involved in making the film. A spokesperson told GoMN the talent that will be in attendance hasn't been confirmed yet.

It'll also be free to attend – but Twin Cities Film Fest members will get priority seating, and be able to reserve in advance. For everyone else there will be a rush line that day, with tickets available on a first come, first serve basis. So a seat isn't guaranteed. You can see the details here.

The film will get a full release on March 24.

The shoot took advantage of Minnesota's Snowbate program, which offers rebates of 25 percent for eligible production costs during filming in the state.
