Winona 8-year-old's 'rainbow rice' could lead to remodeled school cafeteria

What's at the end of the rainbow?

There's a second-grader in Winona whose recipe for "Rainbow Rice" may lead to a cafeteria makeover for his school.

Eight-year-old Hamilton was named a finalist in a contest that Uncle Ben's holds to encourage kids to try cooking. The company named 25 finalists in its "Ben's Beginner's" contest this week.

Each finalist has a video on the site in which they whip up their ricy concoctions.

Hamilton's video includes cameo appearances by a younger sister and a backyard chicken.

Voting is done on the Uncle Ben's site. If Hamilton wins, it would benefit St. Stanislaus elementary, one of the Winona Area Catholic Schools.

In case you're wondering, the colors in Hamilton's ricy rainbow come from red peppers, broccoli and celery, carrots, red onions, and ... something yellow....
