Winter is back on: It's going to get pretty cold this week

The wind chill will fall below zero this week.

It might finally be time to pull out your winter coat and get snow tires on the car.

The National Weather Service says hazardous weather conditions are on the way – portions of central Minnesota and the southeast part of the state will be affected. Freezing fog rolls in Sunday night, which may cause slick spots and reduced visibility for drivers, NWS said.

Monday morning will be mild but still cloudy, with a high near 43 in the Twin Cities. Light to moderate snow accumulation is expected for much of central and eastern Minnesota, leading to slippery travel conditions.

Then it's going to get pretty cold.

The NWS expects much colder temperatures starting Wednesday, with the wind chill dropping between zero and 10 below the rest of the week. Many of those days also have a chance of snow.

At least we won't be alone – most of the country will be hit by an Arctic blast this week, bringing freezing temperatures as far south as Florida.
