Wisconsin supermarket grills world-record brat

A family-owned grocery store in Prescott, Wis., celebrated its 100th anniversary on Saturday by grilling and serving up a 52-foot-2-inch bratwurst, the Pioneer Press reports. "I'm relieved. That's the most stressful brat I've ever cooked," owner Pat Ptacek said. The World Record Academy is expected to verify the record-breaker in a couple of days. According to the organization, the current record of 47 feet, 3 inches was set at a restaurant in Chicago last year.

But the folks in Dallas, Wis., say they have been grilling a much longer one for four years straight. This year's was 135 feet – three times as long as that little sausage in Prescott. "I feel the need to say something," one of the Dallas grillers said.

Grilling wieners without a permit? That'll be $500

The Pioneer Press says the Tin Cup bar and restaurant must pay the city of St. Paul $500 after grilling hot dogs outdoors without a permit. Inspectors cited the restaurant for not obtaining a "temporary extension of service area" license before holding an outdoor event.
