Woman, dog die in south Minneapolis fire

A fire in the 4500 block of Minnehaha Avenue of south Minneapolis killed a woman and her dog Friday night, many news outlets are reporting.

The Pioneer Press reports that the Minneapolis Fire Department responded to the call about 10:15 p.m. Firefighters extinguished the fire at the bungalow-style home, rescued the lone occupant and performed CPR on her but she died, says the PiPress.

Authorities say a dog also died in the blaze. The woman's identity is being withheld, pending an investigation from the Hennepin County Medical Examiner's office.
