Police said Monday that a woman found barely alive in a car in St. Paul late Saturday died Sunday as the result of a gunshot wound, the Pioneer Press reports.
According to police, the woman, whom they believe is a 22-year-old St. Paul resident, was found shortly before midnight Saturday in a car parked near Robert and George streets.
An officer responding to the call reportedly found the woman unresponsive. Paramedics treated the woman at the scene before she was taken to Regions Hospital in St. Paul, where she died.
The woman's identity has been withheld by authorities pending confirmation by the Ramsey County Medical Examiner's Office, the Pioneer Press says.
WCCO said the woman's death has been labeled suspicious by police because a shooting was involved. The Star Tribune says a 24-year-old woman has been arrested in connection with the case, but not on suspicion of murder.
The St. Paul shooting is the latest in a rash of shooting incidents this month in the Twin Cities.
