Woman reports sex assault in Minneapolis park

A woman said she was walking in Riverside Park in Minneapolis early Monday when a man forced her into the woods and sexually assaulted her, local media reported.

The woman was on her way to the St. Catherine's University campus in Minneapolis when the attack occurred at about 7 a.m. Monday. The man told the woman he had a gun but did not reveal the weapon, the Pioneer Press reports.

The woman, who was a college student in her 20s, was hospitalized, the Star Tribune reports.

The man was described as a 35- to 40-year-old black man, 5-feet-5 with an unshaven scruffy beard, WCCO says. He had a medium to heavy build and was wearing a navy blue jacket with a zipper.

Crime Stoppers is offering a reward of up to $1,000 for information leading to an arrest.
