Woman shot to death in north Minneapolis, two injured


A woman has died and two men injured following a shooting in north Minneapolis Saturday evening.

Minneapolis police say the incident happened near 30 Ave. N and Newton Ave. N just after 8 p.m., with officers called to reports of shots fired.

A woman was found down on the ground when police arrived, with officers performing CPR on her until paramedics got to the scene.

They were unable to save her though and she was pronounced dead at the scene.

Around the same time, officers were informed that two men had shown up at North Memorial Hospital with gunshot wounds.

One of them is in a stable condition while the other had non-life-threatening injuries.

Officers from the 4th Precinct canvassed the area following the shooting and will continue to do so in the coming days, saying: "Community members are strongly encouraged to speak freely with our officers."

Earlier on Saturday morning, two people were injured in a shooting in downtown Minneapolis, at the intersection of 15th St. and Nicollet.

One man was taken to Hennepin County Medical Center in critical condition after the shooting at 4:35 a.m., with another victim arriving later with a noncritical gunshot wound.
