Woman's death in downtown Minneapolis jacuzzi ruled accidental

The 53 year old was found unconscious in a 15th floor hot tub.

The death of a woman who drowned in a hot tub in a Minneapolis condo building has been ruled accidental.

The Hennepin County Medical Examiner's Office identified the victim of the Mar. 3 incident was 53-year-old Mary K. Hieb.

She was in the 15th floor workout area of Centre Village, in the 400 block of South 7th Street, when she was found unconcious in the jacuzzi.

First responders arrived around 11 p.m. and began resuscitation efforts, but she was pronounced dead at the scene.

According to her obituary, she is survived by a sister and three brothers, as well as nieces and nephews.

"Mary had a loving and caring heart and a special passion for cats," it said.

On her Legacy.com page, a fellow Centre Village resident wrote: "She was super friendly and always had a smile on her face and said hello when she saw me. Mary always knew just what to say at just the right time to brighten your day.

"I will miss seeing Mary as I walk through the common areas at Centre Village...her spirit will always be present to comfort those who knew her."

Her LinkedIn page lists her as a registered nurse, who studied at Minneapolis Community and Technical College.
