Police are still looking for the person responsible for vandalizing a Minneapolis landmark honoring more than 550 soldiers that lost their lives during World War One. KARE 11 reports the Victory Memorial Drive granite monument was sprayed with red spray paint Friday night.

"It kind of hit me in the gut a little bit," said Bill Ely, an air force veteran.

Restored World War II glider unveiled

Volunteers who toiled for several years to create a World War II glider out of restored parts unveiled it in Eagan on Wednesday. During the war, Minnesota was the second-largest manufacturer of the aircraft, which were used to quietly move men and materials into enemy territory. On Thursday, the glider will be moved to the Fagen Fighters World War II Museum in Granite Falls.

Minnesota World War II veteran honored

Minnesota’s last living World War II Medal of Honor recipient was laid to rest Saturday. Mike Colallilo of West Duluth was among the 450 service members awarded the nation’s highest combat honor during the war. Colallilo was 86 years old.
