Police say a 3-year-old boy used a high chair to unlock the door of his Moorhead home before wandering onto a busy highway with his 2-year-old sister Wednesday morning.
The Fargo Forum reports officers responded to U.S. Highway 75 just north of U.S. Highway 10 around 11 a.m. to find the young children in diapers on the roadway.
Police say the parents were sleeping when the kids escaped.
The children were brought to the police station while their parents were contacted. Police tell WCCO that the boy in particular had demonstrated a strong curiosity and was also manipulating doors at the police station.
Luckily, no one was injured.
Less than an hour later, another pair of young kids were reported jumping into the street in south Moorhead, the Forum reports. Parents of the 1-year-old and 3-year-old were quick to respond.
Charges were filed Monday against an at-home day care provider in Sandstone, Minn. who was allegedly drunk while a toddler wandered onto a nearby highway last week.
