Weather week: Frost in forecast?

Did you dig into your planters or garden on Mother's Day? In northern Minnesota, you might consider covering any new plantings this week.

Forecasters say it will be a soggy Monday, followed by a mostly dry, chillier-than-normal week across the state. It could even dip down into the 20s, WCCO reports.

Monday's forecast in the metro calls for scattered showers throughout the day with a high of 67 and a slight risk of severe weather, with the chance of thunderstorms and hail in western Wisconsin.

Then it gets cooler, and temperatures will top out in just the 50s the rest of the week in the Twin Cities, with lows in the upper 30s Wednesday through Friday – roughly 15 degrees below normal. Normal high temperatures for this time of year in the metro: upper 60s.

Tuesday's high in the Twin Cities: 56, according to the National Weather Service.
