YouTube TV is now available in the Twin Cities

It'll cost you $35 a month.

Your online TV streaming options just got wider, with YouTube TV entering the Twin Cities market.

Minneapolis and St. Paul were among ten more metro areas where the service became available on Thursday, with the video-streaming giant offering a one month free trial to new sign-ups.

The service only offers one subscription, costing $35-a-month, comparable with the base services from competitors like Sling TV, DirecTVNow and PlayStation Vue.

GoMN's Tip Jar feature has a comparison of online TV streaming services here.

What do you get?

For $35-a-month you get access to 48 channels, which include the following:

AMC, USA, FX, FXX, BBC America, FOX News, Nat Geo, SyFy, CNBC Fox Sports North, 1 & 2, ESPN 1, 2 and News, NBC Sports Network.

Local CBS, FOX, NBC and ABC channels are also available.

You can spend an extra $11 a month to get access to Showtime and $15 a month for Fox Soccer Plus.

What's more, subscribers are also given access to YouTube's premium YouTube Red service, which lets you watch videos on the phenomenally popular streaming site without ads.

What else do I need to know?

One of the bonuses YouTube is offering is unlimited DVR cloud storage space.

Basically, you can record as many programs as you want at the same time and you can watch them any time you want within the next nine months. After that, they're deleted.

TechCrunch notes that YouTube's competitors also offer similar cloud storage as part of their packages to persuade cable TV subscribers to cut the cord.

What's more, YouTube says that a subscriber can share their login details with six other people in your household. With everyone given their own login and unlimited, personal DVR library. You can stream through three different devices at the same time per membership.

The one downside right now is that YouTube TV streaming is only available right now through a Google Chromecast, Airplay for Apple TV and TVs with built-in Chromecasts.

As such, devices like Roku and Amazon Fire TV are not compatible yet, though YouTube does say it plans increase its number of compatible devices going forward.

For a limited time, new subscribers will get a free Chromecast.
