YouTube video identifies thieves who stole tip money

Author:

After a hardworking waitress's tips were stolen earlier this month, owners of a Brainerd restaurant took it upon themselves to catch the thieves.

The Star Tribune reports Phil Holbrook and Matt Taylor, owners of the Sunshine Kitchen & Moonshine Lounge, cleverly crafted a YouTube video that includes surveillance footage of a woman pulling cash from a tip jar while another woman kept watch.

Kristy Lemcke, a single mother of two, says about $70 to $100 was taken.

The intro reads: "Hopefully someone will recognize these 2 women. We'll probably never get Kristy's money back....but Public Humiliation can go a long way."

Within 24 hours of posting the video, several calls came into the restaurant from people who recognized the women. Their identities have been handed over to the Brainerd police and Crow Wing County attorney's office for possible charges.
