2 Twins make All-Star team; Sano loses starting spot to Ramirez

It's Sano's first appearance and Santana's second.

Miguel Sano's bid to start at third base in the All-Star Game came up just short as Major League Baseball announced he and starting pitcher Ervin Santana will represent the Twins in the Midsummer Classic.

Sano held a 34,000-vote lead over Cleveland's Jose Ramirez with 12 hours left in the voting period on Monday, but the Indians' rising star made up ground and more to steal the starting nod at the last moment.

So instead of getting 2-3 at-bats during the All-Star Game, Sano will likely get one, maybe two, as the backup third baseman.

Santana (10-5, 3.07 ERA) is making his second trip to the All-Star Game and first since 2008 when he was 25-year-old with the Angels. He leads all of baseball with three complete-game shutouts.
