It's a ways off, but there are a few notable changes and additions to the conference schedule for the Gopher football team in 2016 and '17.
The Big Ten released the slate of games today, and for the first time in league play the Gophers will get both Maryland and Rutgers in 2016.
They'll face the newcomers in back to back weeks, traveling to Maryland and hosting Rutgers in the middle of October. They open 2016 at Penn State, with the home opener against the rival Iowa Hawkeyes.
They avoid conference power Ohio State both years, while also missing the ever-dangerous Michigan Wolverines in 2016.
The conference will feature nine league games with the addition of the Terapins and Scarlet Knights, the first time it's been that extensive of a schedule since 1984.
