Parise hat trick leads Wild to comeback win in season opener

Minnesota 5

Colorado 4

The Minnesota Wild scored four goals in the third period to come from behind to beat Colorado 5-4 in Denver Thursday night.

1. Hats off to Parise in the opener

Zach Parise opened the 2015-16 season in a way he'll never forget. After scoring a pair of goals to help keep the Wild in the game, Parise finished off his third career "hat trick" on the power play with the go-ahead goal.

2. Wild rally with a four-goal third

Once the Wild got the pressure going in the third there was no stopping them. Parise, Nino Niederreiter and Thomas Vanek all scored goals in a four-goal third period, turning a 4-1 deficit into a 5-4 victory.

3. Power played

The reason the Wild found themselves in such a big hole might have been a little surprising. Minnesota had the NHL's best penalty kill last season, but they didn't have that on Thursday night.

The Avalanche were 2-of-2 on the power play – with both goals coming in the first period as Colorado built a 3-0 lead.
