It's a rare feat when the Gophers reel in a top football recruit when national championship contenders and SEC powers are after the same player. But over the weekend that's exactly what happened when four-star wide receiver Dredrick Snelson announced his commitment to the University of Minnesota.
Snelson is a 6-foot, 195-pound senior-to-be at Flanagan High School in Florida. ESPN Recruiting Nation ranked him 96th in the Class of 2016; ESPN's Gerry Hamilton says it's
" target="_blank">the highest-ranked player to commit to the Gophers in the Jerry Kill era.
“I feel like Minnesota’s program fits me perfectly," Snelson told ESPN. "The coaches stayed on me and stayed loyal to me, and I believe I can go up there and excel in the offense.”
According to Rivals, Snelson picked Minnesota over national powers Alabama, Florida State, Florida, Ole Miss, Notre Dame, Clemson, Virginia Tech, Louisville, Miami, Nebraska, Wisconsin and more.
