Happy birthday, Joe Mauer ... you're hitting like a star again

Happy birthday number 7!

There's nothing like celebrating your birthday and getting your season off to a great start. That's the case for the Twins' celebrated first baseman.

Mauer turns 33-years-old today and is truly playing as well as he has in a long time. Everyone is starting to take notice, too. Is it a Mauer rebirth at the plate or a professional second wind?

Mike Bates writes that "boring old Joe Mauer" is one of the Twins bright spots so far. Even Nick Nelson of Twins Daily speculates we are seeing the return of the "Average Joe."

Twins blogger Aaron Gleeman is having lots of fun tweeting about Mauer's resurgence:

The Mauer birthday cake will have to wait as the Twins hop out of town for trips to Milwaukee and Washington before returning home next week.
