A Minnesotan is competing at America's richest rodeo – oh, and she's 13

This isn't the first rodeo for Adeline Nevala, but it's probably the biggest.

The biggest of the first 13 years of her life, anyway. The champion barrel racer from Wadena County will take her spot on one of the rodeo world's biggest stages Sunday when she competes in an event known simply as The American.

Organizers say the $2 million purse and another half-million in prizes make the event in Arlington, Texas, the richest single-day rodeo in the world.

Adeline and her horse Willow have already been down in Texas for awhile, qualifying for Sunday. A couple of other Minnesota natives will also be competing in AT&T Stadium, which is best known as the home of the Dallas Cowboys.

Adeline tells KSTP her appearance at The American means a lot and she's excited about it.

Her parents, Ross and Christine Nevala breed and train horses on their ranch between Sebeka and Menagha, where Adeline has raised Willow and raced her for the past five years, the family tells KSTP.

In previous years, Adeline has had barrel racing success while riding a horse named Lucks Tiny Glory. Here are a couple of YouTube videos of her in action on that horse:
