A 'plea for change': Lynx players honor shooting victims

Publish date:

Before the Minnesota Lynx took the court on Saturday night, Lindsay Whalen, Maya Moore, Rebekkah Brunson and Seimone Augustus held a press conference to address the recent shootings and murders across the country.

In a video posted to the team's Facebook page, Moore said, "Tonight we will be wearing shirts to honor and mourn the losses of precious American Citizens and to plea for change in all of us."

The shirts the Lynx will be wearing state, "The change starts with us" and "Justice and Accountability." The backs of the shirts have "Philando Castile" and "Alton Sterling," police badges and "Black Lives Matter" printed on them.

Brunson stated that she hopes this action will spark "change and accountability across the country." A video of the press conference can be found below.
