The Minnesota Twins and Kansas City Royals waited and played deep into the night Saturday after a series of delays.
After the Royals jumped out to a 4-1 lead early in the fifth inning, the Twins rallied for three runs before a rain delay halted play for over three hours.
After play resumed at 11:45 p.m., the rain was still coming down heavily but both teams played on.
Then all of the sudden, half of the lights at Kauffman Stadium went out.
Following a 15-minute delay, play resumed but neither team could drive in a run despite both having opportunities with runners in scoring position, so the game went into extra innings.
Finally, in the bottom of the 11th, Eric Hosmer drove in the winning run for the Royals.
