It's official. The Vikings announced this morning that Alan Williams has accepted the defensive coordinator position. Also hired: Brendan Daly as defensive line coach.
NFL Network's Jason LaCanfora reports that the Vikings asked for permission to interview Colts defensive backs coach Alan Williams for the vacant defensive coordinator job. The interview is scheduled to take place Tuesday morning. Minnesota head coach Leslie Frazier worked with Williams in Indianapolis in 2005 and 2006.
Adrian Peterson took part in his first full pads practice with the Vikings on Tuesday, but he didn't take any contact. That's because Leslie Frazier sent the defense a message -- "No touching" number 28. Peterson said he didn't like that, but defenders will start "firing back" once he puts his shoulder into them a few times.

The Vikings signed defensive end Jeff Charleston on Thursday. He's entering his sixth year in the NFL, spending the past four seasons with the Saints. Charleston played in every game of the 2009 season, including the championship game in which the Saints allegedly put a bounty on Brett Favre.
