Alexey Shved just put up Steph Curry numbers in Russia

Former Timberwolves guard Alexey Shved left the USA in 2015, and headed back to his native country of Russia.

Despite struggling in the NBA, Shved is lighting it up on the court over there with Steph Curry-like numbers.

He was recently awarded the MVP of the regular season, averaging 23 points and 5.5 assists while making over 40 percent of his 3-point attempts.

Shved signed with the Russian club Khimki Moscow on a three-year deal after last playing for the New York Knicks. The deal made him the highest paid basketball player outside of the U.S., according to Fox Sports.

Remember his time in Minnesota?

After an impressive Olympics in 2012, Shved had a ton of hype before his first season in Minnesota. Just check out what Grantland.com had to say about him.

"Pair him, and his shooting ability, with an elite, pass-first point guard like Ricky Rubio, and you have a player who can do a lot of good things for the Minnesota Timberwolves."

Well that wasn't the case at all, as the guard played just two seasons with the Wolves, averaging 7 points per game while shooting a putrid 35 percent from the floor.
