Apple Valley's Tyus Jones is Pioneer Press Player of the Year

For the second consecutive year Apple Valley's Tyus Jones is the Pioneer Press All-Metro boys basketball Player of the Year.

The junior is averaging 21 points and 7 assists per game and has led the top-ranked Eagles to 27 straight wins and a trip to the Class 4A State Tournament, which begins Wednesday.

Jones also leads the way on the Pioneer Press All-East Metro boys basketball team.

In girls basketball, Braham senior Rebekah Dahlman was named the Associated Press Player of the Year.

Apple Valley sophomore point guard Tyus Jones was named the Minnesota Associated Press boys basketball Player of the Year on Tuesday. Joining Jones on the AP All-State team: Siyani Chambers of Hopkins, Joey King of Eastview, Tyler Vaughan of Braham and Johnny Woodard of Duluth East.
