According to the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette, Palmer passed away at the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center Presbyterian Hospital, where he had been staying since Thursday while having tests done on his heart.

He leaves behind an incredible legacy, as one of the most well-known athletes in the world.

According to the biography on Palmer's official website, his golf career began with a victory at the U.S. Amateur Championship in 1954. He went pro after that, going on to win seven major titles, including winning the green jacket at the Masters Tournament four times.

Palmer won 92 championships in professional competition, including 62 PGA Tour titles in a career that spanned over six decades. He won 29 of his titles and nearly $400,000 in only four years during his hottest period from 1960-1963, the website says.

Of course, he's also known for the beverage named after him, a 50/50 mix of iced tea and lemonade. The drink became popular after Palmer started ordering it in restaurants in the mid-1950s.

Fans, celebrities, and members of "Arnie's Army" flocked to social media on Sunday night to pay their respects to the legend:
