Beasley's 'All-Star Classic' losing big names

Michael Beasley is hosting a charity "All-Star Classic" Friday night at Osseo high school. Just a day before the event Kevin Love, Kevin Durant, and John Wall withdrew. Big names will still be on hand including Wolves' players Derrick Williams, Wayne Ellington, and Wes Johnson. All proceeds from the event will go to St. Jude's and Twin Cities charities.

Beasley scores charity game

With the NBA locked-out, Minnesota Timberwolves Michael Beasley has the only game in town. Beasley has finalized plans for a star-studded charity basketball game Oct. 21st in Osseo, Minn. A slew of NBA stars, including Kevin Love will play and Vikings running back Adrian Peterson will be a celebrity coach.

Beasley brings basketball back to Minnesota

The NBA lockout doesn't look like it's going to end anytime soon, and that's part of the reason why Wolves' forward Michael Beasley brought a bunch of his NBA friends to Osseo Friday night. The game was played in front of 600-700 fans with proceeds going to local charities.

Love named All-Star reserve

The NBA announced its All-Star game reserves and Timberwolves' forward Kevin Love was among the players named. It's the second straight season Love has been chosen as an All-Star. He's fourth in the NBA in scoring and second in rebounding.

Mbakwe named to preseason all Big Ten squad

Another preseason honor for Gophers forward Trevor Mbakwe. He’s on the Big Ten’s all-conference team. Last year, the St. Paul native led Minnesota with 14 points a game and a Big-Ten leading 10-and-a-half rebounds per game.

Love, Rubio garnering All-Star votes

Kevin Love and Ricky Rubio are still in the top five at their positions in All-Star voting. Love is fifth among Western Conference forwards, trailing Kevin Durant, Blake Griffin, Dirk Nowitzki and Paul Gasol. Rubio is third among guards, behind Kobe Bryant and Chris Paul.

Adelman open to using Love, Williams, Beasley together

Timberwolves head coach Rick Adelman is opening to using a smaller lineup featuring Kevin Love, Michael Beasley, and Derrick Williams. The trio provides a difficult match-up for opposing defenses, but they also create a defensive weakness that Adelman isn't very fond of.
