Big fight: Minnesota boxer to take a swing at the middleweight title on national TV

The Minnesota boxing scene is buzzing with word that a local fighter is going to get a shot at a title fight.

Boxing Scene reports that Daniel Jacobs will defend his 'regular' WBA middleweight title against Osseo native Caleb Truax. The April 11 fight is expected to be televised on NBC, live from the Barclays Center in Brooklyn.

According to an extensive profile of Truax on InstantBoxing, the boxer, who is now 29, got a late start in the sport; he began training at the age of 19. Truax's Facebook page details his training regiment.

Meanwhile, Minnesota reports that Minnesota boxer Robert Brant will fight on CBS television on April 17th. No opponent is set yet.

Brant and Truax have begun training camp and have been sparring together at the Minnesota Top Team Eagan facility.
