Bjugstad injury isn't serious, expects to play at World Junior Championships

Gophers' forward Nick Bjugstad says his undisclosed injury isn't serious and he expects to play for Team USA at the World Junior Championships. Bjugstad sustained an injury December 10th at Michigan Tech. He says he is day-to-day but will play in the third exhibition game Friday and "definitely be ready" for the opening game of the World Junior Championships December 26.

Golden Gophers' forward Nick Bjugstad may not play for Team USA in the upcoming World Junior Championships. Bjugstad injured his shoulder December 10th in Minnesota's win over Michigan Tech. He's been wearing a yellow, no-contact jersey during practice. Team USA head coach Dean Blais says Bjugstad won't play unless he's 100-percent healthy.

Hockey Gophers enter tournament without Bjugstad, Rau

The hockey Gophers are back on the ice Friday night in the Mariucci Classic. After a 20-day layoff, they play Niagra to open the weekend tournament -- which also features Northeastern and Princeton. The Gophers will skate without stars Nick Bjugstad and Kyle Rau, who are playing for Team USA in the World Junior Championships.

Three Gophers named Hobey Baker candidates

Three Gophers are among 77 candidates for the Hobey Baker Award, which goes to the nations top college hockey player. Goalie Kent Patterson, forward Nick Bjugstad, and forward Kyle Rau made the list. The candidates will eventually be trimmed to three, with the winner being named April 6.
