Vikings' offense sputters, Packers win to even up the NFC North

Green Bay Packers 30

Minnesota Vikings 13

The Green Bay Packer defense dominated the Vikings, sacking Minnesota quarterback Teddy Bridgewater six times en route to a convincing 30-13 win Sunday afternoon at TCF Bank Stadium.

The Packers and Vikings both own a 7-3 record, but with a victory Sunday Green Bay has the better head-to-head record and, if the playoffs started today, would win the tiebreaker.

Green Bay kicker Mason Crosby connected on five field goals. The Vikings' Blair Walsh didn't see much action; he only had two extra-point attempts in the game, and he missed one of them.

The Vikings, who've been one of the least-penalized teams in the league, were flagged for eight penalties that cost them 110 yards, including several at key moments in the game, to contribute to their troubles.

Near the end of the first half, Aaron Rodgers was leading Green Bay on an 80-yard, nine-play drive which was kept alive by Vikings penalties on three third-down plays, including a pass interference call on Terrence Newman which netted Green Bay 50 yards.

Rodgers threw a 10-yard touchdown pass to Randall Cobb to put the Packers up 16-6 at halftime.

Teddy Bridgewater threw a 47-yard touchdown strike to tight end Kyle Rudolph in the first quarter to put Minnesota up 6-3 early.

Adrian Peterson scored another touchdown in the third quarter, but otherwise the Packers contained him – he rushed for only 45 yards on the day. He also lost a fumble. But Peterson reached the 1,000-yard rushing mark for the season.

There was a little interruption in the first quarter, as a squirrel decided to try to get in on the action.

The Vikings had won four in a row going into the game, while the Packers had lost three straight.

Minnesota faces Atlanta next Sunday.
