As the Minnesota Gophers prepare for national exposure in the upcoming Meineke Car Care Bowl in Houston, Tex., the coaching staff is looking to the team's future with the upcoming recruiting class.

Coach Jerry Kill tells the Star Tribune "we're in great shape with our recruiting," as the deadline for signing letters of intent moves closer. NCAA rules forbid the Gopher coach from even mentioning players until they sign the official national letters committing them to attend the University. That can't happen before Feb. 6. But Gophers Illustrated, a rivals.com affiliate that tracks Gopher recruits, said at least 14 high school and junior college players have indicated they will attend the University of Minnesota next season.

Kill says playing the Dec. 28 bowl game in Texas against Texas Tech will raise the University's profile and increase momentum and awareness among Texas prospects.

Since the end of the season, Kill and his coaching staff have traveled to meet with potential players, including top recruits several other Big Ten schools are interested in and some high school juniors as well.
