Brian Dozier was breaking records Friday night in Houston. He started the post All-Star break portion of the MLB season for the Twins with another one of his patented leadoff home runs.
They have become commonplace for the 2nd baseman. With this one he broke the Twins franchise record by hitting his 21st career leadoff bomb.
Dozier increased his lead over Twins greats Dan Gladden(14) and Chuck Knoblauch(12), but with Friday night's solo shot, he surpassed Jacque Jones(20) and now stands alone as the Twins leadoff home run king.
They weren't all leadoffs, but Dozier hit a career-high 42 home runs in 2016. He hasn't been able to muster the same power in 2017 to this point.
However, Twins fans can hope his 14th home run of the season to lead off Friday night's game in Houston will be a catalyst for a more powerful second half of the year for Dozier.
