The 2013 live racing season at Canterbury Park opens on Friday night, and it should be a very lucrative summer for Minnesota's largest race track.
"We expect it to be the biggest year but we expect to keep growing," said John Groen, Canterbury's marketing director.
The boost is thanks to the 10-year, $75-million deal Canterbury Park struck with Mystic Lake Casino last year.
An increase in purse money has lured in more horses, which results in more competitive racing.
The track's 1,600 stalls are full for the first time since 1991, and there's a waiting list to boot.
