A couple of injury updates to for Twins pitchers Carl Pavano and Matt Capps were unveiled on Friday. Pavano is out for the season with a strained shoulder, but he hopes to pitch again in 2013. "I don't want to go out this way," Pavano told the Pioneer Press.

Carl Pavano has been shut down for the remainder of the season after a new diagnosis on his sore shoulder revealed a bruise to his humerus bone, which heals with rest. Pavano said his season has been a "total failure" and he's upset that it took three months to figure out what the main problem was.

Capps back on the DL, Blackburn called up

Pavano gave up seven runs and nine hits in 3 2-3 innings against the Cleveland Indians Friday. Pavano's MRI on May 11 revealed a strain in the front of his right shoulder.

Pavano might avoid cortizone shot

Carl Pavano is scheduled to start Saturday against the Brewers, and he might be able to avoid a cortizone shot after the game to help his strained throwing shoulder. Pavano met with a soft tissue specialist this week, and as long as he feels good he won't need the shot.
