Check out what's in store for football fans at the expanded 'Delta Vikings Village'

If you are headed to Sunday's preseason game between the Minnesota Vikings and San Diego Chargers, get ready for a fan experience unlike anything Minnesota has seen before.

For many it will be their first chance to see what U.S. Bank Stadium will look like for the Vikings on gameday, but there will be a lot to do outside of the stadium – even if you can't get a ticket for the game.

The team says the Delta Vikings Village will significantly expand on the space that existed for fans outside of the Metrodome.

The highlight of it will be the Vikings Longhouse.

The 67-by-115-foot structure will be in place all season and will feature glass walls with aluminum framing. It will provide a climate-controlled space for roughly 800 fans outside of the stadium.

The Longhouse will be open from roughly 2 1/2 hours before home games until roughly two hours after. But Vikings Vice President of Marketing and Fan Engagement views the space as so much more.

"It's really an extension of all the different hospitality spaces within U.S. Bank Stadium on non-Vikings game days," said Hulkskotter in a statement. "It's not just a game-day asset. I think it's going to be something that the [MSFA] and SMG will want to utilize."

There will also be more space outside of the Longhouse, which will feature a stage for live music or a DJ, the Miller Lite Beer Garden and several interactive displays near the light rail station.

There will also be a more family-themed area between Fourth and Fifth Streets and Portland and Park Avenues – known as The Commons. That will feature an alcohol-free area with activities for kids.
