This week's Out Twin Cities Film Festival will feature a special guest appearing from his new home in Oakland.

Former Vikings punter Chris Kluwe will be one of the speakers at the festival's opening night gala Wednesday at the Graves Hotel in downtown Minneapolis -- via Skype.

Kluwe -- an advocate for same same-sex marriage equality -- was released by the Vikings May 6 and signed by the Oakland Raiders 10 days later.

The Pioneer Press reports that the film festival -- which celebrates the gay, lesbian, bisexual and transgender community -- features a dozen feature and short films.

The festival runs through Sunday with all films screening at St. Anthony Main Theatres in Minneapolis.

WCCO-TV anchor Edward Moody is the emcee of the opening night gala, which also features comedian Ian Harvie -- who is a subject of one of the films at the festival.

Kluwe said he understands that, but he denies that his political activism takes his mind off the game, the Pioneer Press reports. "Why don't you worry more about a children's game than basic human rights?" Kluwe said. "Yeah, I'm generally going to go with basic human rights."
