Cleveland doesn't rock, waxed by Wolves minus Martin

Author:

This is undoubtedly a different Minnesota Timberwolf team than we've seen in the post-Kevin Garnett era.

After losing to Cleveland by one last Monday, Minnesota avenged one of their three losses on the 2013 season, jumping out to a 27-point halftime lead before putting the Cavs away, 124-95.

The Wolves didn't have Kevin Martin as he was forced to sit with flu-like symptoms, but missing the NBA's sixth-leading scorer didn't bother Kevin Love and Co., as they put up a season-high 70 first half points.

Robbie Hummel got his first career start over Derrick Williams in a surprise move by head coach Rick Adelman, and it would pay off, as Hummel hit two first half threes and got to double figures in scoring along with every other Wolves' starter.

Love led the Wolves with 33 points, while Corey Brewer picked up the scoring load with Martin out, contributing 27 on 10-of-17 from the field.

Cleveland was outmanned, outgunned, and outplayed all night, with only Kyrie Irving, Anderson Varejao and Tristan Thompson finding double figures.

The Wolves host Denver Friday at Target Center, 7 p.m. the tipoff.
