Clutterbuck to fans: It's 'tough to leave'

Cal Clutterbuck is saying all the right things as he leaves his Wild career behind.

The fan-favorite right wing tells the Pioneer Press “it’s kind of tough to leave” Minnesota.

Clutterbuck was traded to the New York Islanders Sunday in exchange for Nino Niederreiter.

Monday, Clutterbuck said he's grateful that the Wild gave him his start in the NHL, but admitted it's "time to start a new chapter."

"I think it's a great opportunity for me to get better as a player. I'm happy."

Since 2007, Clutterbuck has played in 346 games for the Wild, scoring 62 goals with 48 assists.

Last season was a struggle for Clutterbuck, though, as he scored just four goals in the lockout-shortened 48-game schedule.
