In a game televised on ESPN2, the nations No. 1 recruit Jahlil Okafor and Whitney Young High School defeated the No. 4 recruit Tyus Jones and Apple Valley 80-70 tonight.
Jones and Apple Valley got off to a slow start, trailing by nine at the half with the nation's top point guard putting up just four points.
But Jones hit back-to-back threes midway through the second half, part of a 25-point post-halftime performance, while attempting to lead the Eagles to a comeback.
Still, Jones' 29 on the game wasn't enough, as Okafor put up a monstrous 22 points and 18 rebounds, including seven dunks.
The headlining luminary in the 1,800-person sellout at Apple Valley High Thursday was Duke head coach Mike Krzyzewski, who will be coaching both Okafor and Jones next year in the package-deal of the recruiting year.
Apple Valley was previously undefeated, but drop to 5-1 on the year in the first game of ESPN's season-long basketball high school showcase.
