The Columbus Blue Jackets put on a shellacking against the Montreal Canadiens on Friday night by scoring 10 goals in their 10-0 win.

It was Montreal's first loss in regulation this season, too, as they fell to 9-1-1. Backup goaltender Al Montoya started for the Canadiens in place of All-Star goalie Carey Price who was out with an injury.

While Price has allowed only seven goals in six games this season, Montoya surpassed that total before the third period had started.

Montoya remained in the game the entire contest allowing 10 goals on 40 shots. He was only two goals away from tying the NHL record for goals allowed with 12.

Josh Anderson (2), Nick Foligno (2), Cam Atikinson (2), Seth Jones, David Savard and Scott Hartnell all scored for the Blue Jackets.

The Canadiens goaltender is the first Montreal goalie to allow eight goals in the first two periods since Patrick Roy in 1995.
