Coon Rapids moves within one win of the Little League World Series

The Coon Rapids Little League team is one game away from qualifying for the Little League World Series. They beat Rapid City, South Dakota 15-7 Thursday to advance to the championship game.

They will meet either Rapid City or Webb City, Missouri, in the Midwest Region Championship game on Saturday.

Coon Rapids took the early lead, scoring five runs in each the second and third innings building a 10-0 lead before Rapid City could get on the scoreboard.

But Rapid City rallied back, closing the deficit to four at 10-6, before Coon Rapids put the game away with a run in the fifth and four in the sixth inning.

According to the Star Tribune, Gabe Robideau had three hits to lead Coon Rapids and Sam Halvorson drove in three runs.

The Little League World Series is in South Williamsport, Pennsylvania, Aug. 20-30.
