Gov. Mark Dayton will be in Louisville, Ken., Saturday to watch the 139th running of the Kentucky Derby, The Associated Press reports.

Dayton's trip to Kentucky wasn't solely to take in the Derby. He's also attending a meeting of the Democratic Governor's Association.

Dayton's office said the governor is traveling to Kentucky Saturday and will return Sunday.

The 2013 Kentucky Derby at Churchill Downs is set to begin at 5:24 p.m. CT and will air on NBC.

Among the horses in the running is Goldencents, partly owned by by Rick Pitino, the high-profile father of Gophers basketball coach Richard Pitino.

The racehorse Orb is a slight 7-2 favorite to win over the undefeated Verrazano.

Some Derby experts, however, are picking Revolutionary to win the race.
