Defending champion Gophers ranked No. 1 in USCHO poll


The USCHO online college hockey preseason poll was unveiled Monday and to no one's surprise the Golden Gophers sit atop the rankings.

Minnesota defeated Harvard in the 2014-15 National Championship game for the sixth title in the program's history.

It's the fourth consecutive year the Gophers have started the season No. 1 in the poll.

Rachel Ramsey, pictured in the tweet above, graduated last season with her fourth championship ring. Ramsey now works as an on-air personality for K102.

This also marks the third straight year Minnesota scoring machine Hannah Brandt has been picked as the preseason favorite to win the WCHA Player of the Year award. Brandt, a former Hill-Murray standout, won the award each of the last two seasons, according to
