Don't be surprised if Laquon Treadwell turns things around in 2017

Last year's first-round pick Laquon Treadwell had a disastrous rookie year. Treadwell made just one catch last season and he rarely saw the field.

Granted the deck seemed stacked against Treadwell in 2016.

Sure he had a rough training camp, but after the team lost Teddy Bridgewater the task at hand was to find a new quarterback with the regular season days knocking on the door.

Just as quarterback Sam Bradford was getting comfortable, offensive coordinator Norv Turn stepped down and there was a new sheriff running the offense in Pat Shurmur. Yes it's the NFL, but that's a lot for a rookie to handle.

With Bradford being the presumed starting quarterback and Shurmur in place as the full-time offensive coordinator, things seem to be looking up for Treadwell in 2017.

"Well, he’s had a great, in my opinion, five and a half weeks," Shurmur said to reporters on Wednesday.

"He’s been out here competing and doing a nice job running routes and catching the ball. Understanding where he fits in the running game and who to block. To this point, we’ve been really pleased with his progress based on a year ago."

Just check out this video of Treadwell making a sweet grab over pro bowl corner and teammate Xavier Rhodes.

With Stefon Diggs, Adam Thielen and newly signed wideout Michael Floyd on the roster, just imagine how lethal Minnesota's receivers could be if Treadwell has indeed turned a corner.
