Double-overtime dandy, Wolves win in Miami

For the first time since LeBron James became a member of the Miami Heat, the Minnesota Timberwolves beat the Heat in Miami 122-121 in double-overtime.

It was the first double-overtime game of the season for the Wolves, and it snapped a seven-game losing streak to the Heat.

Corey Brewer made one of two from the free-throw line to give the Wolves the one point lead with 1.4 seconds to play after Chris Bosch tied the game moments earlier with a clutch three-pointer.

A last second desperation jumper from Ray Allen was short, and the Wolves hung on for the victory.

Both teams had chances to win the game sooner. Miami's Mario Chalmers was at the free-throw line with 3.9 seconds remaining in regulation and 1.8 seconds left in the first overtime, with the Heat trailing by a point both times. In both cases, Chalmers could make just one of two free-throws.

But the Wolves also had chances. After Chalmers tied the game at the end of regulation, Kevin Love had a chance to win it at the buzzer but his step-back three rattled out and the game went into overtime.

Love was 0-6 from behind the arc in regulation, but knocked down his first three-pointer in overtime. He finished with 28. He also grabbed 10 rebounds for his 60th double-double of the season.

All five of Minnesota's starters reached double figures. Ricky Rubio had a double-double with 13 points and 14 assists. Chase Budinger scored 24 points, the most he's scored in a single-game since joining the Timberwolves. Budinger knocked down 5 of 7 from behind the arc.

James had 34 in the loss for the Heat.

Minnesota was without Kevin Martin, Nikola Pekovic and Dante Cunningham. Martin and Pekovic missed the game with injuries, Cunningham was back in Minnesota dealing with his legal situation.

Things didn't get easier for the Wolves either. According to the Star Tribune, the Wolves lost Shabazz Muhammad to a knee injury in the second quarter.

The Wolves (38-37) are in Orlando on Saturday to face the Magic.
