Duffey takes no-hit bid deep to lead Twins over Indians


The Twins got a strong showing from starting pitcher Tyler Duffey, who pitched no-hit ball for six innings and led the Twins to a 4-1 victory over the Indians at Target Field Saturday night.

In his first Major League win, Duffey became the first Twin to allow one or fewer hits in six or more innings since Anthony Swarzak in 2011.

Duffey had seven strikeouts - throwing 55 strikes in 94 pitches.

In the fifth inning, the Twins hit two back-to-back home runs off Indians pitcher Josh Tomlin, the Pioneer Press reports.

Eddie Rosario hit the first one of the night - his seventh of the season.

Chris Herrmann came up next and knocked a homer into the right field seats, giving the Twins a 2-0 lead.

Brain Dozier added a two-run homer in the eighth inning f his 25th of the season, MLB.com reports. Saturday also marked Doezier's 500th game as a Twin.

Closer Glen Perkins gave up the only Indians run in the ninth, on an RBI single.

The Twins are back at .500 with a 58-58 record. The Twins and Indians will play the rubber game of their three-game series Sunday at 1:10 p.m. The Indians won Friday 6-1.

Tommy Milone will make his first start since July 31, after being placed on the 15-day disabled list with a mild flexor strain. He is 5-3 this season with a 3.76 ERA, MLB.com reports.
