Duke offered one of its first 2019 scholarships to a Minnesota prep star

Matthew Hurt is a prep star out of Rochester.

Matthew Hurt, a five-star recruit who's considered Minnesota's top talent in the 2019 class, received an offer from Duke University on Tuesday.

The Rochester native is ranked as the second best small forward in the nation, and also has offers from Minnesota, Kansas, North Carolina, Louisville and Arizona, according to 247 Sports.

Hurt's father confirmed that his son, a soon-to-be junior at John Marshall high school in Rochester, has now gotten an offer from Duke, according to KAAL-TV.

Hurt is one of just two players in the country to get an offer from Duke for the 2019 class. The only other is R.J. Barrett, a native of Florida who is considered the top recruit in the nation.

Hurt was the only sophomore to be named to the Associated Press' All-State boys basketball team last season. He averaged nearly 30 points and 10 rebounds per game.

Here's a video highlight from last year, where he dropped 30 points on Hopkins.
