The Bethel Royals were handed their first loss of the season on a frigid December Saturday in Arden Hills. The Royals lost to North Central College 41-17 in the West Region Championship.
The score was lopsided despite Bethel out gaining North Central, 392-386.
The Royals took their only lead of the game on their first drive when Andrew O'Reilly booted a 31-yard field goal.
North Central rallied for three consecutive touchdowns to build a 21-3 lead at the half.
The biggest stretch of the game likely happened early in the second half, on it's opening drive Bethel drove the ball down the field but fumbled the ball at the North Central 10-yard line.
It was one of their three turnovers in the game.
Ryan Kent led North Central, he rushed for 109 yards on 28 carries and four touchdowns. While Spencer Smith also threw a pair of scores and passed for 249 yards.
The loss ends the season for Bethel at 12-1.
Huskies eliminated from Division II Playoffs with loss in Missouri
The season for St. Cloud State also came to an end on Saturday, the Huskies lost to Northwest Missouri State 59-21 on Saturday in Maryville, MO in the NCAA Division II Super Region 3 Championship.
The Bearcats ran for seven touchdowns in the game and rolled up nearly 300 yards on the ground.
Klaphake completed just 11 of 28 passes for 169 yards.
The season ends for the Huskies at 12-2.
