Environmental review process under way for new Vikings stadium

Stadium builders have started studying the potential environmental effects of replacing the Metrodome in downtown Minneapolis, including traffic during and after construction, air and water quality and the impact of the stadium lights, MPR reports. HKS Inc., the Dallas-based firm hired to design the new nearly $1 billion home of the Minnesota Vikings, is expected to unveil stadium drawings early next year.

Report: Vikings close to a new stadium deal in Minnesota

On NBC's Football Night in America, sports writer Peter King reported the Vikings and Minnesota officials are close to a new stadium deal. According to NBC Sports, it's not a matter of "if," but "when." The Vikings have called Minnesota home since their NFL debut in 1961, but the Metrodome lease expires after the 2011 season. The report did not state whether the new stadium would be in Arden Hills or Minneapolis.

Vikings eyeing another stadium site

The Star Tribune reports Vikings vice president Lester Bagley and Metropolitan Sports Facilities Commission chairman Ted Mondale are looking at a site southeast of the Metrodome. Bagley told the newspaper "it would be ideal to build a stadium next door and play in the Dome." If the team plays at the University of Minnesota's TCF Bank stadium, it could cost an estimated $48 million for up to three seasons.

Report: Vikings stadium bill reached

A.J. Mansour of KFAN reports the Vikings, the State of Minnesota and the City of Minneapolis are reportedly close to a deal on a Vikings stadium bill. An agreement is expected to be announced during a press conference at 9:00 a.m. The new stadium site would be located near the Metrodome. The Vikings would be able to play the next two to three seasons at the Dome.

Vikings may be warming to Minneapolis' stadium pitch

The Star Tribune reports team owner Zygi Wilf showed two sketches of possible stadium sites in Minneapolis, one near the basilica and the other at the farmer's market. The team is still skeptical about building on the existing Metrodome site.
